Parkay Wood Flooring

Parkay wood flooring is one of the most beautiful floors you could possibly have.  It is basically made up of either different types of wood, or wood with different grains and shades.  It is possible to fit parkay wood flooring in a range of intricate designs, making your room almost completely original.  Parkay is also one of the more expensive forms of flooring, but it is cost effective because it can last for such a long time.  You can even re-sand your floor several times and put a new coat of veneer over it.

However, as with everything in life, there are some issues to take into consideration before opting for parkay wood flooring.  These issues include:

  • The price
  • Choosing between wood and laminate parkay
  • Dust allergies – parkay wood flooring attracts more dust than other types of floorings
  • Matching issues – if you are only able to put parkay flooring in a single room, will it match the rest of the house

Parkay Laminate Flooring or Parkay Wood Flooring?

Parkay wood flooring has a far more authentic look than laminate.  However, laminate is cheaper, available in more colours, easier to replace and it doesn’t need any treatment.  On the other hand, wood flooring means you have that authentic wood look (wood just doesn’t come in certain colours) and it lasts for a long time.  Furthermore, treating parkay wood flooring means you can change its appearance slightly when you want to.

Parkay Wood Flooring and Dust Allergies

Parkay is an incredibly dusty type of floor.  It is not entirely clear why parkay wood flooring attracts more dust than other types of flooring, but one of the issues is that the dust is able to get into the grooves of the parkay and under the parkay.  If you have dust allergies, this could be a real issue as it could mean you are unable to be comfortable in the room you so carefully designed and that cost you so much money.

Matching Parkay Wood Flooring

You don’t need to be a style fanatic to understand that a floor needs to match.  You could, of course, change the colours of your wall and perhaps even your furniture, but what if your parkay wood flooring does not match with the rest of the floors in your house.  It has happened on a number of occasions that people have tried to make an unusual house by using stone floors in one room, laminate in another and parkay in yet another room, with perhaps some carpet on the stairs.  Things may look beautiful when you picture them in your mind, but once they are laid down, they may look absolutely atrocious.  This can be a serious problem if you have already purchased all the materials and now find yourself with rooms that completely clash with one another.

The above has hopefully demonstrated both the benefits and problems of parkay wood flooring.  Whether you opt to install it or not is entirely dependent on your needs and requirements.
